The coolest universe: uv77mc - should I buy it ?

I am thinking about buying a uv77mc. I got an offer on one. Does anyone have any facts about it, or user comments ?
I appreciate all replies.

In this time of global unrest, I think a nice gesture would be to buy the MC, then send it to me.

Just my opinion.

I think that most of us here would tell you to go for it. What price is the seller asking? A lot of the UVMC's that are in good condition are selling for $2K and up. hope this helps. --rvj

Anyway, buy it

IMHO, if it’s an ATD swirl, it is much more desirable. However, opinions vary.

I love my MC and will never part with it. I think it is alright to buy almost any playable UVMC available, as there are relatively few in existence and they aren’t makin’ any more.

DISCLAIMER: My opinion is skewed because I am a rabid UV fan and enthusiastic preacher of 7-strings.

Hey !

I live in Norway and there are very few uv77mc`s available. The price is therefore relatively high. About 2600 $. What is the difference between the MKR and ATD swirls ??

MKR= Mustard, Ketchup, and Relish- most tend to find these boring/not as good. Just not good color mixes.

ATD= Darrens work- most tend to find these to be the best. More colors/variations.

From what I've seen, the MKR swirls seem a little more "blocky"
i.e. bigger colour areas

Whereas the ATD swirls seem "tighter" with more definition.

But hey!
I quite like both of them in their own way, so if it plays good I'd go for it (try to haggle that price down though)

Bronze, is that $2600 USD? It's only worth that much if it's in extremely good condition. MKR's are mostly yellow with pink and green. ATD's have black in them and look way cooler, much tighter swirls. Check out the pics here and at Rich Harris' site to get a better idea of what you're looking at. There is a MKR available at gbase.com, look under dealer search. The seller is Huber & Breese Music, they want $3500 USD for it. OUCH!!! Good luck. --rvj

You would'nt believe what some of these guys have. My three Jems are paltry by comparison. I have DNA #53, 7VWH, & 777DY. I'm looking to get a UVMC as well. If that falls through, I'll get a Jem 90th. After that, the wife says NO MORE FREAKIN' GUITARS!!!
