Custom Jem (with GK)- In Working!!

Just thought I'd share some pics of the Jem I am putting together. I had the body built and sprayed by Martin Sims over here in England. I would highly recommend him, his work is excellent & he had great communication throughout the build. The neck is from a 555, but I am going to get the fingerboard replaced with ebony and the full vine inlay. I have recently fitted the Roland GK midi pickup, and all other switches, pots etc... Just need to get round to buying the mag pups, trem, & machine heads when I've got the cash.....

Specs (when finished!):

Swamp Ash body
Mastergrade quilt maple top
Blue to black tinted burst with faux binding
Maple neck with Ebony board
3 tone vine inlay (blues)
Evolution pups
Roland GK Hex pickup
Lo-Pro trem
Black hardware

Heres some pics:

This is after the GK Install (more wiring to be done, but i need the evos first)

Here is my not very good looking mock up of my idea for the vine, made of three shades of blue fading up the neck:

Hope some of you like it, I think it will be awesome when it's finished....

Nice axe my friend. I was thinking about putting the VG-Pickup on my JEM but decided not to. Im thinking about buying a RG-550 and putting the pickup in that for my VGA-7. I like the blue, it looks nice make shore you keep us updated when you get the pups, trem and all the other goodies in her and post pics!

Re: Custom Jem (with GK)- In Working!!

nice! white or creme pickups would bring some light in that blue & black combo. too bad it's got a TRS-shaped trem cavity, unless you put a Lo-TRS in there... and it's me or there's something odd in the front edge of the trem cavity, like the router shifted a bit too forward, right next to the arm-side post? it looks made on purpose, but for what?

Re: Custom Jem (with GK)- In Working!!

Cheers for the comments guys, glad you like it.

Nuno - The trem rout is just a variation that Sims does (copyright reasons maybe?) he said it would fit a Lo-Pro, and on his site it says:

'This is our adapted claw rout designed to fit any generic tremelo system onto your guitar.'

Here is an image of it on an unfinished guitar:

You've got me a little worried as I want a Lo-Pro in there!! Might pull my J-Custom apart to check if the Lo-Pro fits. Ive got a couple of standard Floyd Rose's which don't fit, which I took as a good sign! One was off a Jackson, the other a Ibanez RG320, which I assume would be a TRS as it's a cheapie Ibi.

Any ideas anyone before I pull my J-Custom apart?
Any one got a photo of a Jem rout, without the trem in?

probably it is, but Sims route looks wider to me. but if that's purposely made to fit any trems, that's good, your LoPro will surely fit in there. it just would look not that good with a wider cavity underneath but, who cares? nice guitar, man
