Decent Price for JS Chrome Boy?

I found a JS Chrome Boy at a Pawn Shop in Cincinnati for $1,000

Now the pickups are not original as they are green Dimarzio pickups and I'm 99.9% sure the originals had black pickups

Is this a fair price?

Re: Decent Price for JS Chrome Boy?

I might be careful on that one and do my research as most people dont take such a exspensive($8000.00) peice and go changing things, and surely not to green pups. I dont know what age it is claimed to be but if its claimed to be recent I would just about bet it is a garage experiment, might even be a JS 100 in disquise. Thats just the critic in Me though.akjc1977

Re: Decent Price for JS Chrome Boy?

Just look it over well before buying. The body is gonna be HEAVY, its not made of wood. Fretboard is ebony with CHROME dots, not white ones. The control cavity cover should have the chromeboy number on it. And it will say Made in Japan ont he back of the headstock. If any of those things are missing, chances are its not real. Hope that helps ya.

Fretboard is rosewood w/ abalam dots

If it doesn't say JS10th on the headstock overlay, it's not.

Re: Decent Price for JS Chrome Boy?

This pawn shop has tons and tons of "vintage guitars". They have other Ibanezes like the rootbeer JEM where somebody changed the pickups to Seymour Duncan's, a JEM7V with Steve Vai's autograph, and the JEM7DBK as well, and they have the double neck artist.

How much are these chrome boys worth? I saw several unsuccessful auction on the Bay for $3,500.
