Diff between a Endorsers JEM and a MIJ one?

OK,

Just read through the history of the USA Custom branch of Ibanez. From there its clear that all Ibanez endorsers, including Vai, get their guitars handbuilt in the USA from this custom shop.

So whats the difference between these guitars and the Japanese counter-parts that we get to buy? Are Steve's guitars superior to ours?

Not all of Steve's guitars are LACS models. Some of the prototypes and one-offs are, but I believe that Evo was a standard production MIJ VWH that just happened to have that special something

Likewise, I'm fairly certain that Joe's "Chromeboy" is an MIJ JS2.

Some of the more unique artist models like those belonging to Mr. Balducci are LACS models, and it's pretty easy to see how they differ from any production model.

Most of the LACS models that I've seen have been based on standard models, but have had unique finishes, different pickup/switching configs, and/or different wood combos.

IIRC, Evo is a proto (since it's the first with evolutions, the VWH wasn't in production yet), I think together with pogo and another one. It could very well be that the new body design (AANJ) was allready finished/production ready and the colors deceided on, so how much of a proto it is...who knows. Then again, a LACS model could very well be made of mij parts. I guess the spare necks for Steve (Rosewood VWH necks) are LACS.

Nope, straight MIJ, got one here on Red Lace.

I've seen a shot of Chromeboy and the neck [at least] is LACS.
