Discontinued UV777BK???

A couple of months ago I purchased a 2003 UV777BK (the new trem isnt as bad as I expected ). The whole order actually took almost six months to complete and the explanation given from the Hoshino dealer was that they have one more shipment coming and then that model would be discontinued. I wondered if anyone had heard the same thing, or new anything about a new UV coming out for 2004/5.

But a new UV would be nice
And it would mean a price drop in the uv777bks 2nd hand.

UV777BK discontinued? Damn, that would suck. Although that would mean a new universe, perhaps this is the new signiture model Ibanez were saying SV would get in that advert. Isn't he playing a lot of heavier stuff on his new CD? Makes sense i guess.........

actually it would mean a price drop in for dealers who have em in stock and who will be trying to get rid of them.

second hand (much tp my chagrin) the price will go up as there won tbe any more of these made and that makes them more valuable. it will prolly take a few years for us to see any noticable differences second hand though.

Anyone remember that beautiful DNA-swirled baritone UV Steve got?

UV777BK discontinued? Who cares, as long as we get a new UV model, preferably XL scale.

I was thinking about this, when I remembered asking a GC employee down Atlantic City recently how much the Universe on the wall was. He said , "A what? A Universe?" So, it's at least semi possible that whoever was working at the store that day just thought Universe when he meant "that poor selling black Ibanez that's being discontinued", which would have been the DBK. At least possible. I also think the folks here know more about guitars than the average guitar store salesman.

Queen of the Damned

That's so sad. I saw that the guitar player for the "band" in Queen of the Damned was playing a UV777BK. At least it will be immortalized in a horrible movie.

It's too early to speculate but a new UV would be nice at this time around after a 6-year run of the 777BK. I just hope that if discontinuation rumors turn out to be true, it's not on the "line" altogether.

BTW: I just realized the other day that I have a small split on my binding (bottom side between black finish and binding, bass side, approx 1.5" away from strap button). Not too visible but I happen to feel it.
