do the OLD JEMs feel the same as a 22-fret guitar?

I was thinking and came to the conclusion that I like 22-fret guitars. at the same time, I like the JEM (though I haven't played one). the old JEM777 series to be exact. Now, would a JEM777 feel the same as a 22-fret guitar when playing (if you just close your eyes and forget the fact that there are 24 frets and a large cutout making it possible to reach the upper frets)?

never mind the talk about neck profiles.

the difference is minimal. 24 and 22 frets are just as easy to play. Especially the newer jems, with the AANJ. I have an old jem though, and I think 24 is better.

Actually, you really should go with the 24. If you've never tried the jem, believe me, it feels better in your hand then anything else.

Yeah, I'll go so far as saying I own a Strat, and although it's a smooth guitar to play (for me at least), my Jems blow it away. It's like night and day.

I'm a little confused, and maybe i'm not understanding your question.

How does the number of frets on a guitar's neck affect the playability in any way? What aspects of the guitar's "feel" do you think are different between a 22-fret or 24-fret neck and/or old vs. new JEMs?

darren: I wasnīt implying that the number of fret affect the playability. but the large cutouts sure affect playability on the higher frets (since I could actually reach them all, which is a no-no on some guitars), and I wanted answers that disregarded this fact.

hell, I donīt know, maybe an AANJ would be worth looking at, even though I prefer the look of the old style heel. the real problem is that most 24-fret guitars Iīve looked at feel very different to my 22-fret kramer (like the heel being further up the neck etc.) and it would be nice to have something that doesnīt feel all that different (if only to keep me from letting my other guitars become dust-collectors)
