if you like the axe, buy it, they are holding value and going up in some cases. You need to decide why you want it,to play, or collect, they are beautiful guitars, I'd own one if I could afford it!

If you are trying to justify a price, do a forum search... discussed before.

Here's a link that might help:

All a matter of opinion, really.

I think they are worth the money. Now, if I only HAD the money ;-)

Haven't seen a DNA i person, only in pics, and I know that pictures don't do them justice. And just by looking at the DNA on the computer I can't stop drooling.

What I don't understand is why Levytukku did not have the DNA. They have had all the other anniversary models, Jem10th, 90th, JSth etc. etc. But no DNA! Or, maybe someone swiped it before I could even see it. Anyway, back to the topic.

If you have the cash, I'd definetly buy one. But if you live so close to Rich I'd recommend you checking out both the guitars at the store you're talking about, and Richs guitars. Who knows, Rich might even throw a Donnie at you for buying one.

Will you ever want to give 3500 bucks for a Stratocaster from 1962? I don't think a jem-player will. Because we don't have the same connection with a very special stratocaster as with a very special jem.

We will never give 3500 for a stratocaster and the stratslovers will never do the same for a JemDNA.

Both guitars are now worth much money because a lot of people want them.

It's just a matter of taste and collectibility. Maybe in 20 years a 1962 stratocaster is considdered as crap because the old guarde of players gets thinner. There you have a 3500 bucks crap guitar.
maybe the same for the DNA.

Conclusion: When you buy the DNA you will receive a very good guitar, but it will not be 3 times as good as another jem. But it will be very special, unique, and beautifull. So for a jem fanatic, it can be worth the money.
So, as a jem fanatic myself (I own 3 beauties including 1 jem10)..go for it.

Actually...I HAVE paid $3K+ for a '62 Strat. It was a nice, all-original hardtail that was in killer condition. Great guitar, but my tastes changed and I sold it (DOH!).

Paying $3200 for my DNA wasn't a stretch at all (especially since my wife got it for me!).

I think that whether or not a DNA (or any guitar for that matter) is "worth" the price really differs from person to person. Some think the DNA's price tag is ridiculous. I think it's very fair.

I agree with moondance. The JEM DNA is a premium quality rock guitar and then you get to add the cool finish, and then the collectability.

If you find a swirl you like you're onto a REAL winner

Very true jono, good to get the finish you like, this tops it off making it beyond worth the $'s spent IMO.
