Does Satriani prefer EDGE over Lo-Pro

I´m not really familiar with Mr. Satriani but I´ve heard somewhere that he mainly uses Edge tremolo on his guitars. I was just wondering that if it is true why does he prefer Edge over lo-pro? Any info on that one (couldn´t find anything with search).

My other question also concerns Edge and Lo-Pro Edge. I have understood that they both are made of same metal. Now I have this mister know it all claim that Edge is made of inferior metal compared to lo-pro. Give me some good facts about this matter.

Thanks
/Heka

They are made of exactly the same materials, the only differences are in feel and ergonomics.

and there you have the reason why satch uses the edge. i think he just got used to it's feel...

after playing my edge for 3 weeks i tried a lopro in the local guitar store... feels a bit strange, really... i can imagine that joe prefers the edge since he probably got used to it

I had the chance to interview Satch, and asked him specifically about his trem choice. He told me that he likes the feel of the Edge (ie, response to dives etc.), and because he doesn't rest his palm on the bridge, he doesn't need the flatter profile of the Lo Pro.

I dont do so, i trained myself a mixture from Satch and Morse and ever have the pick over the bridge pickup while putting my little finger to a position between neck and bridge pickup, so i can mute the strings while playing by having a serious picking position and a bright sound

so does vai. so do i, haha. i swapped an edge into my jem from an older RG (which looks odd with a gold lo-pro, lol), and it just KILLS the lo-pro in terms of .. fell .. responsiveness, really. at least for me. i don't rest my palm on the bridge, so the lower profile isn't a big deal to me.

the flutters, oh, the flutters..

Yeah I prefer the EDGE too. Obviously I would gladly use a guitar with either in it.....but the Edge I just like.

Probably because of that "fluttery" "floaty" kinda feel. If you know what I mean.

Lo-Pro Edges look much better to my eyes.
For some reason, I like that space between
the saddles and the tuning screws.

I know the Edge is big and ugly, but still I like it better than the lo-pro! It just feels right!

Too bad I traded my S520 today, but I got a 20yo DestroyerII in return (and dough!)

I prefer the original edge too. I've developed a technique where I whack the crap out of the edge of the raised fine-tuner part to get a little hiccup sound.

But does he use a edge pro on the JS 1200 Prototype ? Because there will be one on the finished model.
