Re: Donnie Paint

You might want to talk to someone about your addiction...

Very nice! It's based on the same theme rather than an exact replica, right? (Question goes for all three, really.)

Looks great! Very well done!

the 2 old ones were artists acrylics & a brush, but they take loads of clear to cover the brush marks, so this one I thought I'd try Posca paint pens. The 900 body split the original Ibanez paint when I applied the white primer so that one has been stripped down to its sealer ready to be primed again

Re: Donnie Paint

Just another question Andy . It looks like you clear you stuff in your garage or your outdoor workshop so how do you avoid fogging ?
I'm still using nitro in rattle cans and its a pain at this time of year....
Its so thin that it can take up to 30 coats to cover arty type raised finishes
It sucks in moisture like a sponge
And it costs a friggin fortune

Sooo can I ask you what you use for clear , and if you use a compressor , which one ?

Sorry to be a pain

Al,
Al no prob at all, I spray down in another shed in the garden since I've been using the 2k. I've been using it for all the recent swirls, green explorer and the 27" 7 string and touch wood had no problems with fogging or anything like that. I'm sure you know 2k is evil stuff, proper mask disposable paint suit gloves goggles etc. I wouldn't even spray it in the garage the stuff leeches through the walls into the house. Everything is cheapish stuff off ebay compressor was about 150? & it came with loads of cool air tools which are good for the bikes & car. The spray guns are like 15/20 quid each, after wrecking my 1st ones not cleaning out the 2k properly. Its all a bit of a faff, mixing the paints, getting the compressor setup & cleaning stuff, but I'm getting used to it & the fact its cured in a day or so even in these cold days can't be beat. I'm just coming to the end of my 1st lot of clear it was 5lt of clear 2.5 hardner and 5lt of thinner for about 80 quid which sounds a lot but I know how much the nitro rattle cans are. That clear has done 8-9 guitars each got 3 lots of spraying with 3-4 coats each session

Re: Donnie Paint

Pretty awesome job man! I always wanted to have an RG body painted like that. There was a guy in California saying he could do it but I didn't like his version...too much space. Very cool man!
