Early JS1000 owners... please coudld you check something for me?

Hi all

ive just acquired a very beaten up JS1000.

Its an early one, with the JS Custom inlay, serial number dates it to 1997.

Now, its got cosmo black hardware, but a black nut (proper black, not cosmo). ive seen a few pics online that look like other JS1000s with a black nut, but the photos arent good enough to really see.

There is a part number for a Black "JS" Nut 2TL1JS42B, and since i cant find that they ever made a JS with proper black hardware, this does seem feasible.

Please can you check for me? pictures would be great too if you can be bothered.

Thanks

Thanks Rich

It did look like that on the photos i could see, the one i have has a black nut, but also has one black knob, one black tuner, and looks like its been used as a weapon haha.

Thanks for the confirmation.

hi;im new here (and on Ibanez0. Ive traded a gibson flying v on a 1994 black pearl BUT, plate ays that is a 1990 guitar!! theres no serial number on the headstock, just a signature from joe satriani... the problem is: nobodys want to buy the thing because of that controversy. The color is Black Pearl...

The guitar was never available until 1994, JS plate numbers have no date indicator. It has a serial number on the back of the headstock and if it doesn't, that's why nobody wants to buy it [or you're trying to sell it for too much].

By plate number it's probably around 1997 and probably has the JS Custom inlay plaque at the 22nd which many do not like.

If it was made in 1990 it wouldn't say JS series on the headstock, it wouldn't be black pearl it would be black. if it says JS custom it is at earliest 1994 if I am correct and latest 1997. No two ways about it. Unless the neck and the body don't come from the same guitar. Or the back plate doesn't match the body

Guitar info doesn't work with JS specific neck plates like the one on a JS1000. They follow a different pattern than 'normal' neck plates.

The neck serial number which is missing from your guitar is the only way to tell on a JS1000, but the inlay means it's an early one.
