Hey everyone, new guy here. This forum has provided me with a lot of good info over the years. I decided to join because i cannot find an answer to my predicament.

So i bought parts and rebuilt a 1987 540 radius. She's quite a beauty! I wound up finding a vintage 87 edge bridge in stupid nice condition. However it did not come with the trem bar. I own a js24p satriani ibanez with an edge trem but... the bar doesn't fit correctly in the vintage bridge. It's as though it is slightly smaller in diameter and doesn't quite seat in the same way. It does work for the time being, but i can hear a slight knocking noise when using the trem.

So, what is the bar? Is there a different part number? Are they even available anymore?

Re: Edge bridge differences over the years.

The bars had wider bushing spacing but it caused them to break at the top bushing, but they were no different otherwise. Arm holders and bars are wear items. Use one for years and you wear it out.

I'm not so sure, due to the rub marks i am getting on the other bar.

There's a pic of the js's bar after playing with it in the other guitar. It's almost like it's not seating in enough to meet the notch. There isn't anything in the hole, i had bought a bar on ebay labled a jt6/ibanez bar from the 80's, i think that was a jackson bar. It fit great, but the damn thing broke. It was cracked because someone had bent it so the bar wouldn't sit so high. I tried to bend it back but the damn thing snapped. It does seem slightly thicker than the js bar.

I figured something out. My js is currently getting refretted. I thought this was it's bar, i called the guy who is doing the work, he said the bar is with the js guitar, sooo i am not sure where i got this bar. I could have sworn it was for the js. I have quite a few spare parts for guitars laying around. Maybe this isn't even a real ibanez bar... 🤔 🤷‍♂️. I will see him this weekend. I'll have access to the REAL ibanez bar. Maybe it'll fit.
