Edge Pro II vs. Edge Pro III ?

Hi,
Just would like to ask for opinions regarding which bridge works
better on the JS100 while a replacement Lo-Pro isn't available at the moment?
I know that both aren't probably favorites here.

Apparently the Edge Pro drops straight in. If you consider that as an option you could order it and the locking stud mod from Rich - assuming you can't find it in the Philipines.

Hi, thanks for the information.

In the meantime, will the Edge Pro III stay in tune better than the previous Edge Pro II?

Re: Edge Pro II vs. Edge Pro III ?

No such thing as an Edge Pro III. There is an Edge III that is used on low-end Indonesian guitars currently, but popular opinion is that it's little better than the old Lo-TRS bridges of the past. It's unrelated to the Edge Pro. There's been mixed reviews of the Edge Pro II, though it wasn't in production for very long, which suggests to me that it might not be the greatest thing that was ever made.

So if I were to choose between these 2:

2006 JS 100 (with a stock Edge Pro II)

against the 2009 JS 100 (with a stock Pro III)

does it mean, the newer year release is better?

Re: Edge Pro II vs. Edge Pro III ?

I personally would assume that an Edge Pro II is better than an Edge III, but I actually have zero experience with either. A fair number of folks around here will probably tell you that they're both junk, but I doubt they're equal junk. By the same token, many people have gotten good results from both. In the end, if you're getting a JS100 in the first place, you can't really be too picky about your bridges.

Speaking from experience, I'd say the Edge Pro III is much better.

Blah, I meant Edge III... I have an edge pro II, and it sucks not that III is much better, but it is IMO

Re: Edge Pro II vs. Edge Pro III ?

Thanks for the inputs, I really appreciate it.

The situation is like this, I have the opportunity to choose between a pre-owned 2006 JS 100 (cheaper 9/10 condition with Edge II trem) or a brand new 2009 JS 100 (regular price with Edge III trem already).

Either way Im going to have the bridge changed later on anyway but at least it would be a consolation to choose which one would play better for the meantime because of the bridge choice issue.

The JS1000 is posted at least double the JS 100 price but changing Pups to Fred and PAF would also upgrade it for less.

Re: Edge Pro II vs. Edge Pro III ?

Wait for a used JS1000 or JS1200, it'll be a far better guitar than any JS100 regardless of upgrades and shouldn't be any more expensive than the new JS100 with all the upgrades.

+ for the JS1000. It's worth the money on top, and a lot less hastle.
A better guitar in every respect imo - not knocking the JS100

Re: Edge Pro II vs. Edge Pro III ?

Thanks Djohns, that practically closes this topic though the JS 1000 practically never hit my ibanez distributor here unless it was brought in through another source, that's gonna be a tough and expensive deal.

Re: Edge Pro II vs. Edge Pro III ?

Well after a few weeks, I was led to find this, and now its mine
A pre-owned JS-1000 BTB. I bought it the moment it was quoted.
Costed me just a little over than a brand new JS-100 but the JS-1000 does indeed perform lightyears better as pointed out here.

The only issue is the rusty trem bar of the Edge Pro but the rest of the unit is in great shape. Definitely not a II or III to worry about anymore

Thanks for the advices about this thread.
