Factory strings?

Hey guys, what are the factory strings on the 7V? I just did my first restringing since owning it. I used D'Addario XL Nickel Wound EXL120 and after pretty much having to do a tedious full setup, these strings just sound too bright for this guitar. I liked the feel and tone of the factory strings but I'm not sure what they are. Thanks!

Re: Factory strings?

Ibanez guitars usually come with Daddario 9s on them.. not sure about JEMs, though ..

Re: Factory strings?

strings loose their brightness and twang once wear and become dirty...you get used to it..then once you slap a fresh new set on there they sound really bright.

Sorry to jump in and hijack this thread, but to save starting a new one....

...does anybody know which strings Ibanez use on the Universe?

I've finally decided to buy one after 20 years with Jems, but not sure which strings i should get when i replace them, D'addario EXL120-7 set?

Thanks

Exactly right...... It will happen EVERY time you change strings. You just have to get used to it.

Well, Steve endorses Ernie Ball strings. I would use these. I think they have information about which sets Steve is using on their homepage.

Re: Factory strings?

If you want a little less bright sound, try Ernie Ball's super slinkys.
I use the 9's on some of my gear. Not as bright as D'Addario and you don't have to wait to loose that really bright sound.
