Film composer Ludwig Göransson‘s guitar collection

Ludwig Göransson is a young (36 year old) film composer who scored Black Panther, The Mandalorian, and Tenet. He is also a guitarist. When I say that I don’t mean he has a guitar and can sort of play it, I mean he was going to study either jazz guitar in college or film composition. He plays a lot of instruments but according to him, guitar is his instrument and his collection reflects that.

I could not find much about his guitar collection, but he has some choice Ibanez models. Here is one:

From Google images and Disney:
Ibanez JS2K
Ibanez JS90th
Ibanez J-Custom 8 string (I think)
Ibanez Meshuggah Signature Model (The Stone Man?)

He has quite a few arch tops and other interesting guitars you do not see every day. Anyways, people usually do not have 2 collectible JS models by chance so I’m guessing he has an appreciation for Ibanez. If you have Disney+ you can watch the Score documentary in the Gallery for The Mandalorian and see him playing the JS2K. If you don’t, don’t worry about it. I just thought it was a cool observation I thought I’d share.

Cool.

It seems that there are a few film/telly/game composers out there who are guitarists, like Ramin Djawadi (Game of Thrones), and Mick Gordon (recent Doom and Wolfenstein games).

I need to play more video games and watch more TV.
Every once in a while the topic comes up as to whether limited signature model guitars ever get played by people other than the signature artist. The topic is not particularly productive but it is thought-provoking. So when I was watching how the music for The Mandalorian was written and the first guitar he plays is a JS2K, which is rare even around these parts (I think), I was surprised.

If we’re going with game composers, one of the best soundtracks ever was the original Deus Ex from like 20 years ago. Alexander Brandon who composed the music for that game is/was a member here. I know he had at least a couple of JEMs

That's cool! I am not familiar with the game but I believe you.

I mainly just wanted to bring attention to a cool guitar collection.

"Music for Visual Media" (which includes film/TV/games and other visual media) and how it relates to the guitar would be an interesting discussion.

Here is the Grammy that corresponds with such music:

Best Score Soundtrack For Visual Media
Award to Composer(s) for an original score created specifically for, or as a companion to, a current legitimate motion picture, television show or series, video games or other visual media.
