Finally, a 777LNG for me!

Not sure if i'll sell it or keep it yet, but i managed to score a nice jem777LNG for $1,300. Do you think this is a good deal? I posted a few months back about an lng for 1800 that had a wiped off headstock logo and missing backplate. This one has the backplate/logo but is missing the palmrest. I dont think it has a case, and apparently the lngs sold in japan only came with a gigbag.

Re: Finally, a 777LNG for me!

thanks!! It seems to me like most LNG's in Japan for sale are not collectors but rather players guitars. This one is in pretty good condition, but it was definitely wasn't kept away in a closet or tucked under a bed for 24 years. Does anyone know why the ones in Japan didnt come with a nice pyramid case? I really hope the seller can find that palmrest!

Never, ever mention the price you paid for it. Now, when you list it for sale in a month (this of course will be after you pledge your dying devotion to it and swear never to part with it), you're going to catch a firestorm from people chastising you for selling it for more than what you paid.

Sorry! But if it makes everyone feel better, 130,000 yen actually equates to around $1,700 these days, rather than $1,300 . Jems are not as sought after in Japan it seems. I've been thinking about keeping it more and more lately, as i love unique/rare guitars. You're right about swearing undying devotion one minute, then selling it off the next. I feel like guitarists can really relate to this.

Honestly, I would have paid 1800.00 for a signed jem777LNG.

Re: Finally, a 777LNG for me!

So i just got the guitar this morning! The good news: Signature is in great condition, neck is straight, almost no fretwear, no cracks at the nut, not too much pitting on the bridge. The hairline cracks at the neck joint don't reach the plate and appear to be very superficial. Theres only a few little dings on the body, mostly on the back. The trem/locking nuts works great even after 24 years!
The bad news, the neck/guitar in general is REALLY dirty. Do you know how i can clean this baby up? i dont want to risk wiping off the finish/logo, signature or anything else horrific. The body itself appears to be a darker color than usual, due to a dirty film. Please Help!!!!

Damp (not wet) rag for the body, follow up with a nice lint free cloth.

This man knows his stuff, i used the japanese equivalent of simple green on the neck, gently rubbing the grime away with very soft steel wool. It already looks a lot better!
