Re: Finally found

I can't see any pictures, I also own a 94 Jem, original bridge though (I just filed down the knife edges, the guitar stays in tune flawless with a lot of use). I did snap the tremolo arm at a gig once many years ago, so that had to be replaced but otherwise the Lo-Pro is a pretty rock solid trem and mine has endured a lot of use! I love my Jem personally, I prefer the Ebony too.. I love Rosewood and I have 3 Rosewood fingerboard Strats but I think there is something about the Ebony fingerboard Jems, mostly a visual thing for me as I think it looks better next to the pristine white colour scheme.

Re: Finally found

A 94 Jem 7V has the Lo-Pro trem that is very similar to the more modern Edge Pro, it does not come with a standard original Edge trem.

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Ibanez-LO-...p2054897.l4276

That is the original tremolo for a 94 Jem 7V.

Re: Finally found

The Edge Pro is essencially the Lo-Pro Edge with a few small tweaks such as the ball end thing, as far as resting your hand on them is concerned they are identical. I don't own an Edge Pro guitar but my bands other guitarist and a great friend of mine (been playing in a band together for 8 years) has a Prestige RG with an Edge Pro, to me they feel like near enough the same, my guitar seems to have better tuning stability.. He replaced the bridge on his about 2 years back, direct replacement with another brand new Edge Pro but it's still not perfect, likely more to do with the wood of the guitar tho and it reacting to temperature changes, which seems to effect my Jem less.

The original Edge though is very different!

Re: Finally found

Well the price of a new Jem has gone up a lot in recent years, but at the same time the 93-2003 era Jem 7V's are more desirable to many people, probably due to the 2 things

1. Ebony fretboard
2. Lo-Pro Edge

Having a non original part on any guitar can often result in it losing resale value, does it make the guitar worse? Depends, at the end of the day it's your guitar and you have to play it, the Edge Pro is a fine tremolo. If I'm not wrong the new ones of today come with an Original Edge, probably because that is what Steve is using, but the Edge and Lo-Pro always seemed to be the most popular of trems.

I'm not the kind of person who cares about devaluing my gear because I never intend to sell any of it, but for sure when it comes to niche collector guitars like Jems, especially early examples people will always try to get something that is 100% original, so having an Edge Pro on a 94 Jem 7V will devalue it.

Re: Finally found

Replacement trem Lo Pro to Edge Pro will
slightly devalue that guitar for me. In Europe
max price you will sell that guitar for is 1300-1400 Euro,
if you're lucky. I've seen 90's stock 7VWH, DY etc regularly
fail to command 4 figures here in the Uk recently.

Re: Finally found

OK, back on target to the original post.

Ask and ye shall receive...

1701 JEMs/universes sold since March 2008
321 have been JEM7VWHs. All manner of conditions; case queens, pristine, players, worn, used, dinged, banged. worked, etc
Average price $1,480
Median price $1,458
High price $2,500 (2013 model sold in Dec 2013)
Low price $778 (1994 model sold in Feb 2014)
Prices stable since 2008, not much variation between high and low prices over time. $1500 is the magic number for your typical JEM worth.

Perhaps surprisingly only three 1994 models sold over this time frame with prices of $778, $999 and $1275

Best Regards.
