finally got my 7bpk after 2years looking

finally got my 7pbk after 2 years of searching.seems like this guitar is pretty rare here in england especially in very good condition.had a look at around five or six over a 2year period but most were well used.wondering if anybody thinks price i paid was fair(cost £600 inc. ibanez fitted case) and can anybody date it for me serial no. is 891738.any idea how many were actually made?

It's an 89 (the first 2 numbers of the serial number) and a STEAL at that price in the UK if it's in very good condition Sorry but I don't think there are any figures for the production totals and certainly none that I'm aware of.

I am soooo jealous. The PBK is a definite fave and I've never even seen one in the flesh. Where did you find it?

Very cool guitar, indeed. I'm quite surprised production didn't last that long. It seem's like it would be more affordable to put out and subtle-enough for today's market tastes. There's a big-ol' picture of Vai holding his PMC in the 1992-93 catalog in his studio, but, a 7PBK is clearly visible in the background.

I don't quite recall the neck profile though. I really like the older Jem necks quite a bit. Especially the way they were finished those days-a very thin oil-type finish as if there was no finish at all. The result is a silky neck with no drag-vey easy to move around on.

Congrats and enjoy!

The PBK has the wizard neck along with the VDY. These are the only 2 "older" JEMs to have come with this profile. But it had the super smooth natural finish on it which made it very yummy

Vai used one back at the EXPO92 concert with Satch Nuno and Brian May

Congrats on the PBK!

I would normally be a little jealous, but not this time. I happened to acquire one from none other than Rikk Beatty. THANX, RIKK!! I LOVE this guitar...the feel, the look, the sound.....incredible!

You can see pics here

Being a shopfitter i travel around the country a lot and i always look around the local music stores or browse the classifieds looking for what i can`t find locally.I found 1 7pbk in scotland(well battered) and the rest in various counties of england. The ones i found (two )that were in good condition, one had the pickups changed(the guy did`nt have the originals)and the other one i bought.Believe it or not the one i bought i found through a friend in my home town of Leeds. Thanks to you guys i now feel well pleased.
