Re: finialy getting my dream jem

I think it sounds amazing, and I can't wait for the pics!
I was actually planning to order something somewhat similar from Legacy One, until I blew all my cash. Anyway, it sounds great.

Eddie Van Halen invented/had made a device that lets you tune from E to drop D without unclamping the locking nut. you pull out the device and it drops the string a full step. www.dtuna.com

Re: finally getting my dream jem

Well, I love my 7VWH, but I've always dreamed of having a JEM 10th. Sooo, I thought I would get an "Evil Twin" to my 7VWH. It was to have a black JEM body, with a neck that would be a cross between a Super Wizard (17-20 mm thick, Bubinga stripe) and a JEM neck (Ebony board, vine inlay, frets 21-24 scalloped). I didn't think I could get an etched pickguard, so I thought I would just go without one. I was also going to get a 2H configuration (middle pickups get in my way), with a Sustainiac in the neck. And, to add a bit of art, I was going to get a pyramid inlaid into the body, like a UV has. He doesn't do abalone vines, so I was going to get the vine done in Holoflek.

Then, I decided I'd just get a BRMR and buy a replacement neck for it with vine inlay from L1. So I ordered it. But THEN, something surprising happened. I got a line on an actual JEM 10th. So I lost all control and bought that, too. I haven't received either one of them yet, but I have started selling off my other guitars to pay for them.

Anyway, as you can see, my L1 order was along the lines of yours, though I like your chrome body binding idea and etched pickguard. I hadn't thought those were available. I think your idea sounds great!

Re: finialy getting my dream jem

It's reflective, like a mirror, but also looks kinda prismatic, along the lines of the Holoflash finish you sometimes see on older Kramers (and other guitars). You can see a pic of it here. Scroll down to the black sparkle, JS-looking guitar:

Re: finialy getting my dream jem

How about trans black? Then you get the grain AND the color, and everyone's happy!

I'm here to please, people!

Jonny,

I think you should wait for the Jem 20th Production model. I think they sound like they will be very similar!

Re: finialy getting my dream jem

The 20th looked acrylic. He means the new production Jem which is basically a BRMR without the mirror top (so black) and a vine neck like the VWH.
