Finish on the back of the neck ?? - On a jem10th !

what kind of finish is on the back of the neck of a jem10th ??
Sticky, silky, smooth, satin, gloss, oil ???

Finish on the back of the neck ??

I think it has a raw unfinished neck that is about as fast as the Millenium Falcon... I actually think mine will make .5 past lightspeed !!!!

I was always my understanding that the JEM10 neck didn't have any finish at all, like jono mentioned.

it's unfinished, in that it has no poly-acrylic... ie the annoying plastic-like substance found on most new ibanez necks (dbk, vwh, etc). I do believe it is *lightly* oiled for protection and stability... but it feels silky smooth. The best JEM neck imho... glen

yep.. oiled. if you look at the back of the neck, specifically the holes for the allen-key bolts for the locking nut, you'll see the the depth the oiul penetrates to in the wood.

Is it possible that it doesn't penetrate that deep, but some oil just got into the edges of those holes during application?
