Fret Buzzing

Sorry if this has been discussed before but i done a search and although there was one post one thread on it i dont know if it applies to me. When i play an open low E on my 1000 hard i get buzzing around the 2-3 fret.Strange though when i play a not on the low E even up to the 10'th fret there is nothing ,its when i continue up to the 12th fret and above the note is lost and distorted. This is true for the bottom three low strings. The reason im asking here is i dont really want to mess with my truss rod to much in fear of damaging the neck.I could highten the action but its not really that low anyway and in fact i want it lower so is the problem the truss rod? *As always any help will b really appreciated.

Fret Buzzing

You have to wrench like a gorilla to damge a truss rod.

If only the open E is buzzing and it doesn't buzz when fretted at the first fret, check and make sure your nut is high enough on the wound side. If it's not too low I suggest you loosen the truss rod to give the neck a little more relief. The upper registers are a little trickier, especially if you say the action isn't that low. You may have a high fret in the higher frets, or maybe your action is too low (if you're trying to set it to the specs of Joes guitars)
