front routed swirls?

hi
I'm currently deciding on the colour scheme for my jem project that I recently started. I love swirls but I cant find any pictures of a swirl of a front routed body. I suppose the reason may be because people dont wont to watse swirling when half of it will be covered by a pick guard. but still I'd be interested to see if anybody else has seen pictures of this and if it looks good.
Thanks
Ed

Re: front routed swirls?

You can cover the control cavity, swirl the guitar and then mount the swirled cavity cover under a clear pickguard.

If you see what I mean...

Another option is to swirl the pickguard.

claer pickguard to the rescue, if you dont mind the wiring wich can also be a little more tidy if you put a small effort into it.

Re: front routed swirls?

great thanks for that everyone. I think I will try the idea of filling in the cavitys when I get round to giving swirling a go. but them guitars with the electronics on veiw are also cool. 2 more questions
If you have the electronincs on view is there any way of puting that metalic tape in the cavity's as I was told that this helps reduce interferance or somthing?

and how would you go about swirling a pick guard, I'm guessing you would need somekind of undercoat first to make the paint stick to it?

Re: front routed swirls?

As for swirling the pickguard. I have no idea... Maybe rubbing it is enough. It does not feel thicker, and there are no traces of any undercoat. I have played it regularly for 5+ years, and no signs of wear on the pickguard. Just as durable as the rest of the paint.

I just leave the pickguard on when swirling the body. Both the body and pickguard need to be finished white of course.
