Going to check out a 87 777SK soon, checklist?

I'm going to check out a 87 777SK from a very reputable buying soon, I wanted to make a checklist of things I should check out. I want to know if there's anything else i should add, because it is an older JEM.

-Neck pocket cracks, not a big deal if they are just paint, correct?
-Behind the nut cracks. From what i hear these can be problems.
-Original parts; pickups, original Edge, hardware, etc.
-Check if neck isn't corkscrewed. Bows can be fixed.
-Truss rod working, i would hope the store would know that.
-Telling wether or not its a fake will be easy, that "Spotting a Chibanez" thread was a big help.

Have I covered the basics of what to check out? I will obviously plug it in and play it, I just wanted to make sure.
Thanks!

Looks like you've got it all figured out. Make sure it isn't faded too much.

I would post a picture, but I don't want anyone buying it before I do!

With an SK I'd say the biggest concern is the paint. An orange SK isn't really worth much. Neck pocket cracks are almost unavoidable if the neck fits very tightly in the pocket. My SK has no cracks, but I'm pretty sure it's only because the neck fits more loosely than any of my other guitars.

Just a minor cosmetic issue--but check for pitting on the trem.

The neck is the most important problem with these old guitars. Straighten it. If it has backbow at the first it will need a deep cut to true it up.

Loose anchors are expected but you won't be able to find those in the store.

I forgot about pitting on the hardware! I'll check out the neck plate pitting to-thats almost unavoidable.

The paint isn't bad, its slightly faded, but i kinda like it that way.

Well, I called them up, and here's what they tell me.

Neck is very straight and very playable. No cracks behind nut or neck pocket. The bridge pickup has been replaced (pink Dimarzio EVO), and theres pitting on the bridge and neckplate (to be expected).

its a good price...i hope i get this one!

Don't be afraid to post a picture. If you're super picky about the bridge you will be able to find a replacement. As long as the price is right then go for it.

I'm pretty much looking at it as a players guitar, so as long as it works i'm cool with it.

there it is! i

As long as they don't want an arm and a leg then go for it. You can always sell it later on down the road no problem.

EDIT...did you actually see it in person. I'd venture to guess that it did have atleast a neck pocket crack judging by the rest of the body.

$1899.99 CND (approx.$1944.USD as of June 10/2011) IMO thats too much for one in that shape. Hopefully you can talk them way down.

You missed a steal of a deal a few weeks ago. I bought the FP.

At $1950 it's just too much in that condition. I'd almost classify it as a beater.

That's way too much money. There's a guy on Craigslist in Columbus, OH selling a way nicer one for $2000. I bought a way nicer one for $1550 a few weeks back.

Re: Going to check out a 87 777SK soon, checklist?

Well, considering I'm in Canada, and I won't buy anything off the internet, its not bad. I think i can talk him down a few hundred.

I've never seen another JEM other then a 7VWH around here, and they sell used for $2000.

Hopefully they will take my offer, considering its on consignment.

I'm also willing to pay a little more just because its so convenient!

Why won't you buy anything off of the internet?
