Green Floral Pattern

Just got my FP back from the shop where I had the pink pickups replaced with DiMarzio AN/HS-3/TZ and am very pleased with the results. You really don't see too many cosmetic mods made to the FP's, I guess it's kind of hard to mess with perfection. Well maybe they're not perfect but at any rate I didn't like the looks of faded pink pups. I felt that green would go much better with the floral theme not to mention the neck inlay.

All in all a very cool effect and it was worth the time and trouble as far as I'm concerned. I hope you like it but if not, I can deal with it. BTW, the new pups don't really sound all that different to me but then again I haven't spent much time playing with it yet....

Re: Green Floral Pattern

Looks good to me... still exotic but a little less girly than the hot pink pickups.

Re: Green Floral Pattern

i agree. it seems to bring out the inlay, plus i like it better than the pink. i think that instead of looking more like flowers, it gives it a "tree-ish" appearance. if you know what i mean. you made a good choice.

Re: Green Floral Pattern

I've always thought that Ibanez should have used purple p'ups in the FP. The green looks cool. I'd bet that a purple / green zebra combo would look nice as well.

Re: Green Floral Pattern

I like it a LOT better than the pink...a green/black would work too. Not sure sure about purple :-?

Re: Green Floral Pattern

Thanks for all the feedback, glad you enjoy it.

One of the hardest things about doing this is finding Ibanez NOS neon green knobs. The white base, Dimarzio speed knobs and what not are off color and kind of messes things up.

As far as the originality thing goes, I kept the old pups of course so they can go right back in. But I tend to buy this stuff for enjoyment and not investment so I'm not too worried about it. Besides, I do have a second FP which is my player anyway.

As far as the pink logo, you really threw me for a loop with that one. I never noticed and now it's going to bother me forever LOL. I ain't messing with that though!

Re: Green Floral Pattern

It's beautiful Tonelover

Really I think it comes down to the colors in the pattern. Yours doesn't have a whole lot of red or pink. My 91 is VERY red and I don't think the green pups / knobs would match well. 91' is grey case lining on the right. The 88' though.....hmmmm?

Nice job there, looks really good
