Re: Guitar Guru Chrome Boy

Looks like a BP that has been sprayed with chrome over it. Sorry GG but, no cigar.

Re: Guitar Guru Chrome Boy

I think it looks pretty good. I'd like to see it in better lighting before I pass judgment about the chrome because it does kind of just look like a slightly shinier BP. Again, I think it's a lot to do with the lighting because you can see a pretty good reflection of you taking the photo. Let us know a bit more about the guitar GG with maybe a few more pics.

Re: Guitar Guru Chrome Boy

Here's more pictures. It is hard to take a picture of a mirror finish that reflects everything.

Re: Guitar Guru Chrome Boy

The difference is in the reflectivity. If it doesn;t reflect like a mirror then it just doesn't look right.

The only process I've seen that really looks right is the one where you flow silver oxide [I think] that deposits the silver on the surface, and you clear to protect.

Re: Guitar Guru Chrome Boy

Might not look as great as a real chrome boy, but it still looks like a very fine guitar!

Thank You, and it didn't cost $5,000.00 either.

Re: Guitar Guru Chrome Boy

Guru, the guitar looks really cool. The only thing JB meant was that if you were going for a "chromeboy" look, you didn't really get there. Doesn't make the guitar any less cool, it's just that when you put "Chrome Boy" in the title people expect a replica of the finish to a pretty exact extent, which this is not.

Re: Guitar Guru Chrome Boy

I think it is. The picture won't show it, but it is what it is. Even Ibanez had problems with these, and it's more durable because it's paint with a clear coat. Paint that costs over $80.00 for 4 oz.

yes...its mine !!!!!!
i have had two real chromeboys !!!!the first one the chrome comes off after 2 weeks of playing..then i change ! the second one dont left the shop becauce the chrome was all over the place in the case !
so i want a guitar with a chromelook that stays on the guitar when i play and not leave in the case ! and i think the guru does it right !!!
i think the shinefactor will be 70-80% of the real on !

Re: Guitar Guru Chrome Boy

I think the additional pics show the chrome look a lot better. It looks fantastic and while not quite as flashy as the real deal's chrome look, I like the idea of it not rubbing off all the time. How heavy is it?

Re: Guitar Guru Chrome Boy

It is a very thin material that actually sinks into a clear coat. I actually couldn't believe how good it looked. Steve Vai is using their stuff now.

If it wasn't good paint, would you put it on a Lamborghini?

That, is very interesting, new Jem finish maybe....
Actually, I guess I agree that the finish is not identical to the Ibanez chrome, but I also agree that may be no bad thing!
I'd have one....
