Guitar Safe

Well, I have Jem number 9 coming from Rich soon (vbk for those who are interested), and I got to thinking about getting a guitar safe to store my Jems. I only keep 1 or 2 at my house because I really don't like to have them all in one place, makes me uncomfortable.

I have a great space for a safe here at my office, where it could be bolted into a concrete floor (I own my business, as well as the building fyi). I wonder with the price of Jems skyrocketing if it wouldnt be a good investment to keep them safe from thieves and fire.

I see a few on 3bay, like this one : 110095617163

It seems like a decent investment to protect the guitars, what do you guys think? Does anyone have a safe for their guitars now?

Don't get me wrong, I love to look at them all hanging on a wall or spread out on guitar stands, it's truely a site to behold, but I can only play one guitar at a time, and I go through phases where I play one or two for a month or so, then I put them in the case, take them to the office, and bring home 2 more (currently my FP & Root Beer have been the guitars of choice).

I just wonder if anyone else is as paranoid as I am.

Re: Guitar Safe

I'd love to get a safe as well, sadly, I don't have that kind of money. Make sure it's also fireproof incase the worst should happen.

Re: Guitar Safe

That safe looks like nothing more than a gun safe with long baffles instead of the shelving that normally comes with gun safes. If thats the case I would go to a local gun store and see what they have. I own a few gun safes that are rated for 2 hours of fire protection and I think I paid around $1100. Seems like a good idea with the price explosion of jems, but I think you can get a better price than the one you listed.

Re: Guitar Safe

Looks like a really good idea, I'd never considered such a thing, but it would be a great way to safeguard the guitars.

Re: Guitar Safe

You have all these JEMS, but we haven't seen many pics!

The guitar safe is a great idea, My old man has one in his cellar, where he keeps his 62' Les Paul and 64' Les Paul Goldtop.

Re: Guitar Safe

I think it's a very good idea. I've been thinking about this myself for the past couple of months. I think I'm getting a fireproof gun safe to take care of it. I have a nice SG, the custom swirl and the RGT320. Even more important than the money is the fact that none of these can be replaced IMO. If you are picky about guitar necks and the way a particular guitar calls out to you, ...you know that insurance money can never replace those qualities that made you buy a particular axe. I think it's uber-worth-it. If the worst happened and you got insurance to cover it, ...you may look the rest of your life for that particular guitar of the same model that calls out to you in that special way. I don't just like every guitar, I like MY guitars. That's why I bought them.
