The handrest was a little "invention" so one could palm-mute or rest their hand on the bridge without affecting the pitch.

They've been out of production for quite a while, and were only available when the JEM was still a new model, or somewhere around that time (mid/late 80s) as far as I know.

The handrest pads

Thanks for the info guys.

So, are these things virtually imposible to find or are they avaliable somewhere used? *I would like to get one *because I like to push aganst the bridge to pivot when I trem pick.

they are really hard to find and that is why they are expensive. *i had on on a jem 7vdy i used to own. *it did nothing for me and i took it off. *you don't need it to trem pick or palm mute or anything. *if you do, then i think you are pushing down on the trem way too hard as you play. *just my opinion. *

i searched, and i found!

i was wondering, has anyone tried to actually machine one of these? i'd assume that the only way to get one, since they don't sell them, is to make one.

i'm curious because of my new rg570 is my first guitar with a trem system on it. i'm used to sometimes resting my palm on the bridge (which never moved before ). and now, when i sometimes do that, my pitch goes sharp.

any ideas other than "learn not to do it anymore"?
