Hey everybody!
I just received my Jem7vwh yesterday and I'm still going crazy and jumping around naked everywhere.
But thats not what I came here to talk about.
Before my Jem, I owned and played an OLP AXIS, or a cheap 300$ version of a musicman if you prefer, which had a maple neck. And, well, today I can easily affirm that the neck is now actually green. Yeah, I seem to have a problems with my hands, either I sweat alot or either they produce alot of acid but I seem to start to rust my strings in just 2-3 days easily. After a few minutes of play I can touch myself and feel how humid my fingers are, also, I can pretty much retrace where I've been playing on the neck since I basicly leave what it seems like almost pools of water on the neck.
Before, I didn't really care about the life of my neck on my other guitar, and I had never noticed I had such hands, which turned it to go awful green.
Now my question leads to this, I just had my Jem and I dont want the same thing happening to it, I already wash my hands before each time I play and wipe it softly with a piece of cloth when I'm done. I wanted to know if there were other tips I could take from you guys so that my neck resists against my hands. I talked to the people that ordered it for me, and they specified that maple necks have a tendency to react to hand sweat more then the others and turn green (His musicman was doing the same thing). I also know a little about things such as lemon oil, but I'd like to know more about proper neck care or maybe possibly solutions for my hand sweating to prevent long term neck damage on my new girlfriend..
Anyway, thanks in advance and for reading through my long post!
Ciao
