Has anybody ever made a custom floral jem?

As the title says really, i have seen loads of custom swirls, solids and air brushed finishes but never a custom floral jem.

If you have please post some pics.

i assume that with all the lacquer that either the bodies are a few millimeters thiner than other jems, or they are thicker when finished.

Any advice would be great, i fancy making a white one.

Cheers
Peter

Re: Has anybody ever made a custom floral jem?

Lots of people have made custom guitars with fabric tops. The floral JEM is just a guitar with patterned cloth applied and bonded to the top. Anything that can be printed on fabric, from flowers to teddy bears to whatever, can be used as a design theme.

Peace

I've thought about it man. Way back in '06. lol Here's a poll in which you can see the fabric I would have used. The pics were just to get an idea of how the fabric would look. Anyway, I would have used the right one. It's awesome.

Unfortunately, fundings weren't available at the time and when they were later on, I ordered a JEM77BRMR instead. Which I never ended up receiving, but that's another story.

Anyway, the floral JEM has always been one of my favorites. Such a wonderful design idea. I like seeing people be creative with guitar design that way. Good luck with your project.

P.S. I've been wondering about the thickness of the cloth as well. I think the bodies would have to be a bit sanded down in order to stay the same size as all the other JEMs.

Didn't someone make a custom double neck FP once? I remember seeing pictures of it. I can't remember if it was here or not...

Is that an Ibanez originally Claudio, or some other brand?

There was one guy on the Dave Weiner board that did that sort of customs, usually with a Japanese theme. They looked awful nice.

Yeah, its pretty much the same concept as the Fender paisley guitars but with cloth instead of wallpaper/wrapping. Take a trip to hobby lobby and let your creative side fly!

It's an arts and crafts store. They have a TREMENDOUS selection of fabrics. I'll often go in there and search through fabrics and daydream about how cool it would make a guitar or redoing a cabinet or amp head with them. They have a website, but the fabrics vary from store to store.

If you are interested in having a guitar custom fabric'd; I would hit up Seth @ sethmetal.com - I certainly plan to when I'm not ultra broke and buying amps left and right.

I saw his work first for the guitarist from CHON (on page 5), but his other custom Ibanez's are equally spectacular. http://viewmorepics.myspace.com/inde...d=14431&page=1
