Help with JEM77FP!!!

Well I've finally decided, I'm going to pickup my new JEM77FP on Monday.
I've fell in love with this baby, it plays so nice. There is one thing I've noticed, it feels kinda rough on the back of the neck on the 77FP. A very dry feeling, unlike the 7V's neck I've also tried, the neck is a bit more smooth. But I liked the overall feeling on the FP, it actually played better.
I'm a little concerened about the neck on the FP though, the colour of the maple is kinda taned(dark), not as light as some of the other maple necks on rgs and jems. I'm not sure what the problem is, is it just the wood thats being used on the specfic JEM, or is it becuase it hasn't been played enough. Its made in the 2000, and have being hanging in a local guitar shop for a long time. Maybe 2,3 years. Its still very new, and I got a very good deal on it. I would think its legit, as everything seems to be fine. Its just maybe JEM isn't very poplular around here. Please help me out here.
Thanks

Hi! I prefer infinished necks, and one that isnt finished can be a bit "rough" at first (on mass production units). If it is really bad, very, very fine sandpaper, lightly, with the grain, very, very carefully. Then some "0000" steel wool (neck off, or cover the pickups (or find out why the hard way), and finally a little tung oil (there are substitues some like). Do it right and you would be hard put to find someone with skin smoother and silkier Just my 3 cents... Nikki
