Help needed

Hi guys hoping someone could advise...

I've had a UV7 Bk for as long as I can remember I bought it off my guitar teacher at the time and have owned it since easy 20 years.

I brought it out to be serviced the other week and had a look at the plate on the back and it says JEM with the serial.

I am wondering if anyone can help find out if this is the true serial for the guitar (I'm asking as it states '89) or is there anywhere else on the guitar that I could find one?

Thanks in advance guys!!!

Re: Help needed

Are you saying that you have a Jem neck plate on a seven string Universe? If so, that would be wildly incorrect for a guitar leaving the factory, but I suppose anything is possible. Some here may have even seen something like that before. Can you show more photos of the guitar?

Hi there apologies for the delay in coming back to you. Yes that's correct as per the image that's the back plate on my UV7BK.

I'll post some more images up over the next day or so.

Just seems weird why it would have that, are the back plates the same size for the jem and UV guitars?
