Hey, I think I'm one of the lucky ones! :)

I have a 555BK, for which I have bought a mirror pickguard... And I noticed that the guard's width is smaller than the cavity on both sides (as you can see here: http://www.pbase.com/filipevai/image/36426753)

Well, the mirror pickguard is originaly from a DBK, right? So does that mean I can replace tha TRS with an Edge or Lo-Pro?

you can replace it anyway, but that section doesn't matter, it's the route in behind the wings of the trem that usually needs to change.

Thanks, but can you tell me exactly what I need to sand? Is there any finished/painted part that I need to sand down?

I have an Edge on my GMC, but I don't feel very confident in dismantling a Colectible guitar to test out my 555...

See the red lines, that is the section behind the wings, the lopro's are straight across where the TRS is angled, you need to re-route the body to straighten that section out.

that's all I need to do?

Is it the same case with the Edge?

And what about the NEW trems?! I haven't heard people talking about them...

Maybe they'll fit better, no?

The new trems require more routing for the spring block and all that crap, and in my opinion, the more I work on these new edge pro's, the less I like them. They're harder to work with, don't stay in tune as well, I just don't like anything about them, plus their whammy bar system sucks, they don't stay snug for more than a couple of minutes. I would stick with the edge or lopro edge, yes the route changes the same, you do have to route the finished body of course, sometimes though you can squeeze it in there with no route, you won't know until you try.
