high action or just me?

I am coming off an esp ec 1000 and my new dbk seems like it has fairly high action from 12-24 frets, but i can't lower the trem anymore because it will just buzz out. Is it just that jems have relatively higher action than a guitar with a fixed bridge?

Sounds like you might neeed a shim. I don't think that jems have a relatively higher action than fixed bridges or vice-versa (unless you adjust it that way).

My jems have very low action.

hope this helps

i dont think so cause the neck is shimmed perfectly, no buzz on open strings, and the fretboard is perfect below 12 frets

Problem solved. the pickups were way too high, and i didn't notice it. it wasn't fretbuzz, it was crappy noise from the pickups being too high. what a relief

Zoidberg.. i had the same problem with my JEM when I bought it the pickups were FAR too close to the strings and it sounded horrible.. I lowerd them to the same hight vai has his by looking at a video to get an idea of what hight they should be and the overall sound of the guitar improved a great deal.
