again, beautiful work Twin!!! The binding looks a bit wide for my tastes, but it's definitely a nice touch!! I love the BEM veneer's too!!!

Re: Home made JEM by TWIN

I made this guitar, few years ago. I decide to make a relic, and refinish the neck!!!

Here it is...neck has a flame maple binding and mahogany skunk stripe...

Painted neck...not polished yet!

Uploaded with ImageShack.us

I make changes to the inlay...put out the small inlays and make a abalone inlay ...like original neck

Uploaded with ImageShack.us

I make my abalone S logo, just to make my neck unique (before coating)..it`s not perfect inlay slot but ok!!! This pictures is in building proces...

Just as we can say that my Ferrari i made in the garage is a very, very nice car, similar to a Ferrari. No offence but there are JEM´s and there are Jem´s

Re: Home made JEM by TWIN

I build so far 4 JEM guitar, 2 JS, 4 Suhr modern and they are great!! All my guitars are accurate to the millimeter as the originals. On the tastes are not discussed. Paint, wood, etc., etc....
If that's what you mean ... of course original is original, but my guitars would not changed proprietors for nothing ...because the guitars are awesome and I build it with my hands from 0.
I have not bought the parts as others and call the topic "PROJECT JEM..."....I made it from wood blank from scratch...that`s big difference!!!

I put a Floyd on my 2 JEM guitar and they are awesome...i don`t like plastic tremolo bushings on low pro. I love when I play with the tremolo arm to remain in place ... i don`t love low tremolo because I do not like plastic rings because loosen over time and the arm rotates ....

Re: Home made JEM by TWIN

do you mean the studs for the pivot posts are plastic on some of these kits ? o_O scary as hell

I took the same route as you, but when I see how much work it is, I admit I somehow regret being a copycat. When I’m done with my prototype I’ll do something of my own design. I already diverged from the original JEM to some extent, but there is also a big difference between being creative and stealing someone else’s design don’t you think so ?
