How to find these parts of JS1000 ???

Hi everybody,

i've just bought a used JS1000 BTB here in France, and would like to know where i can find a new whammy bar and also new sets of custom-stamped shims to raise the center saddle radius ...

Also have question about it : do you have pictures of your bridge saddles positions and height for me to compare?? Do you have thin metal shims on 6-E, 5-A, 4-D, 3-G, 2-B and 1-E strings??

For the moment i have only these shims on strings no 5,4,3 and 2.

Thanks for advices about it ...

You should be able to find a tremolo bar at any Ibanez dealer-they're a fairly common item. If not, you can try www.ibanezrules.com .

As for the shims...I'm fairly sure that the 1st and 6th string saddles are not supposed be shimmed. Part of the idea of shimming the saddles is to get the saddle profile to match the radius of the neck, which is curved. Thus, the high and low E saddles would need to be lower to meet that profile.

The bridge radius is factory set and the shims are glued on. Saddle shims, for some reason, are no longer available anywhere.

Automotive feeler gauge blades might work OK as shims if there are no other options.

The variety of material you could use is endless. You can cut up nut shims, I used to cut up Pepsi cans long ago. The Custom Shop actually uses celophane tape to do micro shimming.

I ordered some floyd designed shims from stew-mac as well. i dont know if they fit the edge though, they are cut to fit through the bolt holes as well.

When i ordered "the tool" for intonation of ibanez edges through stew mac, they came with a pack of shims with the holes in them.....which was cool.

They always gave you a little pack with the tool [but that was from the tool distributor], Stew Mac no longer has shims at all, nor does anybody else.

Thanks for your answers first

And is it normal (because my tech was wondering why) that the low-E saddle is really lower than the others (also the high-E without shim)?

Is there a difference in height of the different saddles?

The whole purpose of the shims is to match the radius of the saddles with the radius of the fretboard....to achieve the lowest action possible when setting up the string height. That is why the high and low E strings are lower and without shims.....and this is normal because the radius of the fretboard.

The low E *can* be quite low on some. Measure it and the A and shim to match.

i 've got my JS back from my tech ... and i feel it's very high now ...

low E - 2.5 mm
hight e - 2 mm

I don't know what to do with it because i don't want to mess my JS trying to set it up lower than this.

I've never set up a floyd equipped guitar.
