How much can EVO last?

I saw that Vai's main guitar EVO is really beat up, and the crack on the back is looking real bad, and does it have a Floyd? anyway, how much can EVO last before Vai retires it?

Re: How much can EVO last?

EVO really is not the same it used to be, it has a different neck for a start! I think its more the body thats still original! (Though only Vai can clarify that)

I don't think he'll ever retire it until it can't be put back together anymore.

No doubt, he'll play it as long as he can.

Re: How much can EVO last?

The neck has been replaced numerous times.

I think I remember reading something about the crack...something like Ibanez figured something out to fix it up pretty well, and that's why we still see Vai playing it a lot.

Re: How much can EVO last?

if i'm not mistaken, even the termolo and edge pro's are changed sometimes. but i'm very sure that the body's still EVO. My guess is that Mr. Vai will used it till she really gets seriously badly damaged like Vai's previous 'green minie'.

Re: How much can EVO last?

he had the heck replaced in '96 as he threw it across the stage to his guitar tech at the end of a show with the lead still pluged in it. it only made it half way across the stage when the the lead pulled tight and the guitar came crashing to the ground....ha

bet he never tryed that trick again.....

some parts of the trem get chaged every now and then

but that lump of bash up wood and plastic's on it's last legs.

there is only so much that putty and gaffer tape can do.......
