Red face I accidentally own a Js6 and didn't even know it...

I just assumed it was a stripped Js1600 and was completely oblivious to what it really was when I bought it. I'm contemplating selling the guitar and when I Googled the serial number to figure out which year it was made, I realized it can't be a Js1600. After some more Google-sleuthing the light bulb moment went off and I landed on the Ibanez Wiki and the Js6 page.

There's not a lot of info on them out there so it was easy to miss for someone not clued up on these. Pretty sure there's a special place in hell for people sitting on a 93 Js6 without even knowing it though. I bought the guitar from a retiree who had it since new and he's one of those "guitars should be in the case under the bed"-types, so it's dead mint.

How much is a Js6 worth in 2019 or would it be worth holding on to it? It just feels like a pity to have such a cool guitar without it really getting played and I'm gassing for another PRS.

Hard to say what they sell for, but I saw this old ad from a Reverb seller from a couple years ago if it helps.

Great guitar, but I still think they should have put a better solid bridge on them... Especially for a top of the line signature model!

I owned a 6 and a stripped 1600.... the only real difference is the neck.... the 1600 has a ni er finished neck, so I sold my 6 for basically what you'd expect an used JS to run for.... I dunno if they are worth more due to the age and scarcity of them....

I've done a lot of digging and it seems as though the prices vary quite a bit. As far as I can tell, Rich had 4 of them on Ibanezrules.com's used section priced between $1325 - $1600. There were also a couple on reverb priced between $899-$1350 but the 899 one has been modified and had holes drilled into it to fit a synth and advertised by numerous sellers over a period of 3 years at varying prices. It appears as though a fair price for an unmodded excellent condition js6 would be in the 1300-1600 range. If you drilled holes into it or sanded off the logo and replaced the pickups with Epiphones, you're looking at closer to 900-1000.

As with all things it appears to be highly dependent on quite a few facctors, but it does appear as though a js6 would fetch a bit more on the used market compared to a js1600.
