I am going to purchase a JEM PMC. Need comment!

Hi!

I just got a bonus and thinking of purchasing a JEM PMC which is shown in pic. Guitar is used, some chips on the body. Neck is slightly dark from used. She comes with no case, no gig bag, no trem arm, nothing at all just guitar!

Seller askes me about $2500, but I have no idea about the MC price today. Can anyone tell me that its worth? or expensive?

Appreciated for your comment.

Happy holiday!
Choo

I would be willing to part with $2500 for a PMC.

There's no way I'd pay $2500 for that. For starters it looks hideous....very poor swirl and looks pretty faded. It's also a bit dubious for someone to be selling a fairly reknown guitar with no case and bits and pieces. They're kinda a package deal.

Re: I am going to purchase a JEM PMC. Need comment!

There are two issues as I see it...

The first is as Macka says, it's unusual to see a swirl sold without at least a case, but it's not unheard of. That will affect the price somewhat, but not too much.

The second point is that swirls are highly individual and they're only worth what you yourself would pay for any individual guitar. By UK prices that's quite a cheap swirl, and as such it might look like a bit of a bargain. However it does seem to have a lot of fade to some of the colours and generally lacking in the pinks you'd expect to see in a PMC, probably due to UV exposure.

In all I probably would rather spend more on a "nicer" swirl, but that one doesn't look too bad and if I was desparate for a PMC I'd certainly go and see that one with a full wallet.

Maybe an original PMC but a bloody awful looking thing.

That reminds me of Saul Via's guitar.

I actually disagree with all the posters here....I think that's a nice looking PMC for the price. I paid more for mine, but it did come with original salmon lined case, hang tag, and had no chips, dings or fretboard wear. However, they are extremely hard to come by these days, you only see one for sale once in a blue moon, so if you've been wanting an original I say go check it out and it may be the one for you. PS - I see a lot of great looking customs, but it's not the same as owning the real thing.

Well said.

The satisfaction of owning a rare PMC authentic ibanez is amazing. I'd say go check the guitar out with your cash at hand, and if you like it... (Doesn't matter what anyone else things) if the swirl is for you, get it!

The seller still has a receipt of purchase from Thai Ibanez dealer. One thing I found out about Ibanez dealer in Thailand did in the past is they got all guitars from Ibanez Japan without cases. Not like in the US or other countries, then they made their own case with Ibanez logo painted. Their own case looks very cheap and non-durable. And you know what they sold guitar and case separately !! All models of Ibanez guitars from Thai dealer in the past would come with only a cheap gig bag.

This story I heard from one of their old staff who now runs his own guitar repair shop. :-) I see many of FP are being sold now local and they all come without case.

Now I think Ibanez wont let them do their own case anymore.

Re: I am going to purchase a JEM PMC. Need comment!

I finally got it few days ago and I paid for $2300 + $150 for new prestige case.

In a reality, it doesn't look that bad. Its true that there are more nicer swirl, but just have no chance to get one (hard to find and pricy)

I am going to shoot photo during my holiday. I will post them after new year :-)
