I finally got my SBL

Wow! This thing is more vivid than photography allows. It's my favorite shade of blue. Does anyone happen to know if this is the old Lazer Blue with larger, random sparkle-flakes added to it? I don't recall ever seeing the LB finish while it was current. I've only seen a used RG770DXLB that was abouti 8 years old and it was a little darker. Maybe from the aged clearcoat perhaps? Anyway, she plays great (just need to set her up for .010") and I named her "Charlize" after Charlize Theron.

This is going to be it for quite a while.

I want to get one. I really like the color. At first, I didn't like the blue on rosewood, but I have grown to really like it. How does it play and sound? Just like a VWH? Curious

Nothing like the Lazer Blue IMHO. The LB had no sparkle in it, it just had varying hues of Blue depending on the source and intensity of light. (do not mistake my description with color shifting colors.)

Mike, what about your tuners, locking nut pads and the trem arm holder? What color are they? Weird, huh?

Thanks guys. I was thinking that there was the possibility of it being Lazer Blue with sparkles added but wasn't sure. I still miss tjhat finish Thanks Kirk. Actually, this finish seems much richer. To me, the Jem 7VSBL's real-life color looks more like the printed-catalog verion of LB.
The SBL is much better looking, IMO, than the catalogs or any on-line pictures have shown. I'm very impressed.

The Hardware is wild: The bridge and saddles, knobs, Top Lok nut and the tuning peg heads are a nice, antiqued finish. The rest of the harware: tuning machine pegs and gear housing, screws, Top Lok pressure pads, and the fine-tuning screws are all gloss black. Looks cool to me.

These play great. I still haven't A/B'ed it with my VWH, yet. I haven't had too much time to play since I've had it (I got it Friday 6/14) and I won't be able to play it much until tomorrow evening.

I plan on writing the more detailed hands-on report Thursday afternoon.

Thanks again,
