I got my 2001 White JEM Today! What is in the back?

It looks like new!
The only thing different is the bridge pickup is an EVO2 with gold polls, so it looks stock.

This was made in Japan and the final assembly was done in the CA Custom shop.
I got it from a guy in Canada. It has a one piece neck not one of those five piece. The neck is very different than all my other Ibanez guitars, it's narrower at the nut, but thicker than the rest. The gold rocks and the almost black fretboard makes the colors of the vine jump out really nice. I may just leave the 9s on it. All my other guitars have 10s, but it plays good the way it is. The action is very low and there are less than five notes on the whole neck that buzz just a little. It came with the UV1000 case, it all looks like the day it was made.
It may be the best playing JEM of the four I have, not to mention my three RGs and six UVs.

I took off the back cover plate where the springs are and found a single shock absorber in the middle with three springs, two on the top and one on the bottom.
Is this stock? I have a double shock absorber made by Ibanez that I had in my S540LTD for a little while. The thing never did anything.

Here is a link to my photobucket.

Let me know what it is.

There are some other pics you might enjoy too.

Thanks

It is not stock. That thing is an ESP arming Adjuster. It is designed to work like the Ibanez Backstop in your S540LTD. You can read some details about it here: http: http://www.ibanezrules.com/parts.htm These devices are quite rare. Glad to help.

should I pull it out and move the spring to the middle?
The Edge Trems never go out of tune anyway.
I use the trem.

I found the ESP paper tag and bag it came in in the case.

I pulled the thing out and stuck it in the bag.

If I need it I can put it back in some day.

It stops the trem moving when you do bends, but you can still use the whammy normally

Yup, it's very good when your doing unison bends and want to keep intonation. Had one in a uv I just sold.
