I have finally achieved my dream

Well, after 11 or 12 years after first playing one, I have finally bought a Jem.

I have dreamed of this day. Not a single day goes by when I haven't wished for one.

It is an '88 77fp. Not my first choice as I would have preferred a 777, any colour, but I am absoutely over the moon.

I have been eyeing it up for a couple of weeks, and played it a couple of times, and I have been totally blown away. Even though it desperatley needs a setup, it played great and sounded better.

I am glad to finally join the club.

I paid 800. Although I am trading in a couple of other guitars, as I really don't have the full asking price.

It is still in the shop, so no pics yet, but I will post as soon as I pick it up.

congrats! i love the inlay! they almost glow in the dark! wait till you stand near a black light with it- the vine really comes alive! recently picked up a '91 777VBK and i love it! i think the two guitars are very close in specs- she should serve you well - enjoy and welcome to the "club"!

Congrats man!!!! They are really beautiful those Flower Patterns. I also have a Jem77FP and it's also made in 1988. Let me warn you, it's an addiction. Once you have one, you want more
Here's mine FP along with my BSB.

Can I just say that, while I'm not that massive a Jem fan, I REALLY want a BSB? Man, that's a cool axe... When I finally get around to doing a custom 7, it's going to be that blue-green stain over alder, with an aluminum pickguard. not burnt, and with a maple fretboard, most likely, but that is a seriosuly good-looking guitar, and from what i hear, the resonance from the open wood is amazing.

What's that little thing on the 12th fret of the BSB between the two dots? Is that some little inlay job?

Yes it was a very long time.

I have had the chance to buy several over the years, and always thought that I should wait until the "perfect" one to appear.

Then I saw and played the 77FP, I loved it, and I had a couple of guitars that I could stand to trade in, and none of us are getting any younger.

I used all of those excuses to justify my purchase to my girlfriend, none of them worked; particularly the last one.

BTW no pics yet, I still haven't picked it up yet. Sorry : (

OK,

I finally have a pic here.

http://nick-coumbe.fotopic.net/p7192953.html

It is a bad pic but that's all I have at the mo.

I picked it up today finally. The guitar shop has just moved sites, and I wanted a setup etc before I actually took collection, and today was the day.

I cannot tell you what a good day it has been. I am just blown away. In the shop it played great, but when I got home I started to feel a bit underwhelmed.

After about 5 mins of playing I started to get the feel for it, and within 10mins I was playing better than I ever have, SOOOOO clean, sooooo tight.

This is the best guitar I have ever played; bar none. It is a testament to the design, and build of this wonderful guitar, and also to the fantastic job my guitar tech did. He never, never does a poor job for me. I don't want to mention names or break forum rules, so I wont. Bu the he is the best tech, in the best shop I have ever had the pleasure to frequent.

I am rambling, it is all too emotional
