Ibanez 90th Anniversary video

In the last part of "Ibanez and Tama Drums are the Coolest" tune Steve breaks the high E string on his metallic blue Jem, but finishes his part anyway. So I was wondering how come for us mere mortals Floyd Rose goes horrendously out of tune in a situation like this and for Steve it doesn't?

Any ideas?

His tuning did went to hell. he used his ears and the trem to save the situation.

Well, at first I saw him pushing down the bar to keep it remotely in tune and thought he was doing an awesome job. But then he just knocked the bar out of the way and continued without it. To tell the truth after watching it again I see that at the moment when he let go of the bar it didn't really matter if his guitar was in tune or not.

Poor Steve. I renamed that video as "Andy Timmons raping Steve Vai and Paul Gilbert in the ass with the guitar neck".

No it doesn't. If you break a string with the backstop, your tuning is dead anyway. Watch the video: Steve got away with it by using slides and the bar...that is, pure ear.
