Ibanez Back Stop Tremsetter and Edge Pro Trems

Hello,

Anyone used an Ibanez Back Stop on a 2004 Jem? ...with the Edge Pro?!

Is it as advantageous to use the back stop with the Edge Pro as it is with the original Edge or Lo-Pro Edge?

Curious if anyone had thoughts on this...

I've got one and can't decide if it would be better used on a 1990 540SLTD with Edge trem or 2004 Jem 7VWH with Edge Pro... (it would take some routing to install in on the 7VWH, thus my hesitancy).

No. Sorry -- took me a while to get. FYI -- ashbass has sold 4 of them in the last 6 mos on well-known online auction service (last one sold couple weeks ago). Keep an eye out...

Anyone got any comments RE: my question? tremsetter on Edge Pro vs original Edge?

Yeah,

I picked up two in great to almost mint condition from ashbass. shipped fast and no hassles

I am not scared of a little woodwork. just remember measure twice, cut once. You can always cut some more. ;-)

Re: Ibanez Back Stop Tremsetter and Edge Pro Trems

I have the backstop in my '03 with the Edge-Pro
works fine for me although I DID have to cut some wood out to make it sit low enough...I could still go lower but I don't feel like chiseling & sanding anymore...it's working.

One thing I will advise is to find something close to the original "pad" that sticks to the block. At first, I mounted my backstop flush with the edge of the cavity but there was always a small amount of space between the plungers & the block. when I would pull up or warble, you'd always hear this clunk. Now that I have a piece of rubber in there, it's fine.

Thanks SRVoodoo (I think we both frequent Vai's Forums too...),

That's a good tip about the rubber pad. What'd you use to stick the rubber pad to the metal trem block? ...double-sided scotch tape?

Re: Ibanez Back Stop Tremsetter and Edge Pro Trems

yeah, I'm always on the Vai forum
I've tried a couple different things but normal everyday
SuperGlue is what worked best for me.
mostly because it dries instantly which means that
you don't have to find something to "clamp" the rubber pad
to the block until the glue dries.

as usual, the simple things seem to work the best!
just make sure that you get a piece of material with the
right thickness & the right "spongyness"
