Ibanez Jem Dna neck

Hi all, I bought a Dna replica over 10 years ago (I have other Jem's, but loved the swirl). I recently changed the pickups and did a little work on it, when I bought it the guy selling it claimed it was a genuine dna neck that came from a damaged original. Anyone have any idea if I could verify this is the case? I love the guitar and have no intention of selling it or anything, I'm just curious. Serial number is F0020798 and 025/300.

Posting a picture of the neck would help a lot, it's pretty easy to spot a fake in most cases. All I can tell you about the serial number is that it indicates it was made in Fujigen in the year 2000.

Thanks for that. I am having a little bit of trouble making an image small enough to post, while still being visible. Computers are not my friend 😊

Just upload it to a photo site like Imgur and then post it in the thread

Re: Ibanez Jem Dna neck

That's a real DNA neck. It's got split bubinga which is an issue with DNA's and anybody ready to spend serious money on one should know to make sure and ask. Yours has continued into the headstock also so it's a pretty good crack, but the neck is real.

Thanks man, greatly appreciated. Nice to know. I love playing it, haven't had any issues with intonation or anything. I put gravity storms in the neck and bridge and changed the volume and tone controls for madhatter upgrades. I'm just about to add some Fu Tone stuff to the trek as well.

Re: Ibanez Jem Dna neck

I thought the headstock looked familiar.

VAI2KDNA #25 - Beater grade from mishandling during storage. Deep smack on
the end of the headstock, some small chipping to it's lower edge, scuffy and
scratchy face which could use a buff but a couple scuffs are through the
logo. There is some mild fretboard worming at the 6th, 7th, and 13th frets,
but the reason this neck was replaced is the meandering bubinga grain crack
that runs 1 1/4" into the headstock maple. I had 4 of these on DNA's that
were replaced. It runs lengthwise with the grain so does not affect
strength. No bow profile issues, a nice straight neck.** $300** GONE** THANKS**

Wow!. That is amazing, thatís my neck 😀. As I said I love playing it, it seems to be very forgiving. Amazing to learn its origin story, from the US to me in Ireland. Made my day.

Re: Ibanez Jem Dna neck

Not just the amazing record keeping, but the amazing memory! I canít remember what I had for breakfast most days, never mind a guitar neck from over a decade ago 😂.

Re: Ibanez Jem Dna neck

So did the original body from the 025 DNA get a neck replacement, if so how did the old 025 neck get back out into the wilderness?

Employee purchases. They'd sell scratch and dent and outdated perfect stuff for cheap.
