I'm in love!!!

I read the Steve with a 777VDY thread, clicked on the link, and saw her. If there was ever a case of Guitar Lust this is it!!!
I want a JEM777VDY!!!!!!!!

So, i'm wondering,

Are they rare?
How long ago were they discontinued?
Am i likely to be able to find one in England?
If i am what price?
Are they usually in good condition or are there common recurring problems with them?
What are the specs (neck,p'ups,bridge etc...)

Hi mate - These are pretty common....it's the Pyramid neck ones that are more rare.

I've seen a few on Ebay (one has just gone) from what I remember they are from the early nineties.

I love the early Jems.......I'd love an RB personally - but they seem to be almost impossible to get hold of.

the pyramid neck DY's are almost the most common Jem out there, (only matched I think by the FP and VWH) Finding a VDY is tough, I've seen like 4 in the last 2 years for sale, compared to like 10000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000 0000000000000000000000000 regular DY's

Weird......In the UK it is really hard to get a pyramid neck whereas the vines are pretty common, and when you do find one you find people charging the earth. There was one on Denmark St in London which was knackered with dents / cracks all over it and in need of frets going for 900!.....and it sold.

Old JEMs are something of a quandry over here in the UK. A few years a go (probably more than a few now, but you know how these fishing stories go ) There was a rash of BFPs they were everywhere and it wasn't unusual to see 2 or even 3 together in the same store. As soon as folks went looking for one, I couldn't source any!!! Techically Jeremy is right there are more with pyramids than with the vines, you do see as many of one as the other and you can expect to pay the best part of a grand for one that's in good condition.

Check shops like Rich's Ibanez Rules, beause he can source them easier than we can and won't ship you a lemon, just a yellow guitar

Cool. I will look into that as soon as i've got the bread.
I thought there might be something amiss with the pyramid/vine ratios, as i searched on google, but only found one vine, and about 20 pyramid DYs.

Globbits - Don't go to Ed Roman......the man is evil and you'll probably find yourself with an Aria-Pro with an Ibanez logo! Plus, he looks like a cross between a Leprichaun and Groundskeeper Willie......would you buy a guitar from a man like this!

Did you hear what he was doing with the EVH 5150 replicas?

I have always preferred the VDY over the DY......don't know why since I prefer pyramids and maple

Maybe it's just the contrast of the color and the maple?

Yes, a VDY is on my GAS list ;-)

I've actually thought about adding Roman's supposed "shop" to my things to do list in January. I'm gonna be in Vegas from January 5th through 13th, and have considered doing it just to see the little guy from my Lucky Charms boxes...and his illegal copies. Along with the EVH thing he's also doing reproductions of the ESP Kirk Hammetts with Ouija Board graphics. Parker Brothers had actually blocked ESP from doing any more Ouija graphics... The flip side of the coin is that i don't know if he's gonna be worth the time spent. I went last time and was told that "due to remodeling" I wasn't allowed to see any of the copies and customs.
