I'm sorry, but these 505s are terribly underrated

Just picked this up, basically brand new. Rock solid, quality guitar that plays fantastic. I'd have to speculate that those who made the biggest fuss in the marathon thread about this model never played one, or never played one that was set up properly. Got a great deal and I couldn't be happier with it.

Re: I'm sorry, but these 505s are terribly underrated

I got a black 505 a year ago it was my first jem. It's the only JEM i played, but it has changed my life. The shop had it B-stock so I got it for 1044€, which is about 100€ more expensive than 555, so I got a great deal. I had a lot to chose from, but I wanted an Edge/Edge Pro/Edge Lo-Pro and this was the only guitar that had one of them. Also, when i first touched that Jem neck i fell in love with it, so I narrowed my choice to only JEMs and not RGs I couldn't love this guitar more.

That is a great looking guitar. just think of it had a reverse headstock! It would be a cross between a PGM and a Jem. !!!

The maple board just does it for me.

*^^ this should be my sig. LOL

Thumbs up Re: I'm sorry, but these 505s are terribly underrated

Nice catch, I like it a lot! In fact, I didn't even know that there was a 505. I wish to you that you have a great time with it

The guitar really does play extremely well. In fact, it's re-instilled my faith in modern day Ibanez so much that I just ordered a Genesis RG670MH that should be here early next week. Will start a separate thread at that time

Congratz....I agree the maple board does it for me. There are so many awesome mods you could do cosmetically to make that JEM evern more awesome!

Re: I'm sorry, but these 505s are terribly underrated

The only possible thing I might do would be swap the pickups. However, these have a distinctness that I find I'm enjoying. Not as hot as your typical Dimarzios, with sort of a fuzzy quality. Not sure how to explain it.

On that note, has anyone tested the output on these Ibanez pickups, particularly the V1, V2, V7, and V8?

They are the same pickups that came stock on the later 550s and 570s.
Decent is how I describe them--but I still always swap them for DiMarzios.

I'm more than familiar with them, having bought a couple of RG2020s and an RG520 when they were new. I just wanted to know if anyone had gotten any reads on them and what their output was. Thanks.

Re: I'm sorry, but these 505s are terribly underrated

A quick search brought up these numbers:

V7 = 9.54k
V8 = 15.45k

Re: I'm sorry, but these 505s are terribly underrated

Thanks, AB! Much appreciated! :-) That's quite a disparity between the two. Any info out there regarding the V1 and V2?
