Ive always read that when you do your intonation you do open string to 12 fret octave(harmonic). Ive done this on a strobe tuner but my b string on the 7th fret is always out. On many guitars

why is this? what am i doing wrong?

Ive read that the b string should always be your starting point to? is this true?

Re: Intonation

theres a couple ways to do it i believe, 12th fret harmonic to 12th fret fretted, open string to 12th fret fretted, open string to 24th fret fretted. i think i read on ibanezrules that you can do 22nd fret to 10th fret, then double check it at the 12th.

here's the deal, regardless of which method you use, its very unlikely you will get every note on every fret to be dead on. even with a well setup guitar with low action and freshly leveled frets will have some inconsistancies, its just the nature of the instrument.

i think i read about something called the "buzz feiten" tuning system which supposedly helps reduce these inconsistancies, but i haven't read too much into it.
