That's now a 33 year old, vintage instrument. One that was out of a limited, numbered run with the artist's original signature still just about intact. Even with the paint chips and neck pocket cracks, it'll not be long before that one is up at $10K.

Granted this wasn't in the past month, but in this year I've seen these pretty often in the $3000-3500 range. There aren't tons of these things so it doesn't seem unusual to me at all that you can go through stretches where only the overpriced ones are available.

It's a 3 year old instrument. It's a 2017 reissue. It shouldn't cost $5500 as many ebay and reverb people are selling it for.

If it was the original one in a good condition, that makes more sense.

I don't think I will ever own a jem at this point. Never liked the white one. I refuse to buy a Premium, that's just taking a step back and don't like the PIA.

Even at $3500 is a lot of money for a guitar that isn't that much different from a $1200 Prestige

some fool with money will probably buy it or get in debt for it at some point and pay that price

you can buy anything with credit, doesn't mean is a good buy

i dont think we will ever see the $3500 price ever again for these guitars unless you get really lucky even that is a lot of money

Fairly sure itís a 33 year old original... check the photos for the 87 neck plate and the giveaway hand rest dots.

And the description where is says itís the real deal, not a reissue...

I'm not talking about any particular listing.

My thread is about the 30th anniversary 2017 Jems, which they are all priced around the 5k price on eBay and Reverb.

I'm not interested in the original ones. One, you don't know the condition until is in your hands, it could need a new trem, refret, etc and they are priced more expensively than the reissue.

With the reissue, you're more likely to get a guitar that is still in good condition.

Either way, these prices are too much. Maybe if it was $3500, I would buy one with my credit card and even that would hurt me in the chest, is an investment in a way, but $5000 lol

But if you keep up with the conversation, youíd have noticed that at that point we were talking about a specific listing of an original 1987 guitar. Youíve quoted out of sync, thatís all.

Try to go with the flow, or at least put things in the right context.

I do not understand why you want to buy 3500 guitar when 1200 guitar is similar.

It's simply a matter of supply and demand.

The guitar in question is a limited run anniversary model aimed squarely at collectors. Unsurprisingly, collectors have collected them.

You're waiting for a collector to decide to sell, or an opportunistic reseller who has one in stock to capitalize on the wants of those folks who didn't manage to get one three years ago (like you). That puts those guitars in the price bracket that you don't want to pay.
