JS 1000 Price - Unreasonable or not?

I am going to be paying probably around $2,100 Canadian for a '01 JS 1000. *I just want to know what people think about the price. *Is this place ripping me off, or is this the norm for signature models?

Sounds a little high to me. *Mine was a little less than US$1000 brand new including case last October. *That's about $1550 or so Canadian. *On the other hand, I don't know if you have to deal with import duties or other taxes over there.

Interesting. *It sounded a little high, but we do have a huge amount of taxes in Ontario. *15%!!!!! *This doesn't include a case. *I think it's strictly the guitar, which I am displeased about. *What sort of items were included with your guitar?

it's a rip off, man. i don't own one, nor have I seen one in a store, but they ripped ya at least $500 Canadian. They usually sell for around $1k USD, and that's CASED.

Steve's Music in montreal. *It's there main store where all the transfers go through. *Wow, that's a lot of money. *Most of the places here are more expensive than them. *I usually buy things there cuz they're cheaper. *I bought a used Marshall VS102R 2x12 100W combo there for $690 CDN with tax. *That one was good, it has Celestion speakers in it. *They're great.

I actually saw a 1000 at Steve's in Toronto, and I wanted to play it, but I chose not to because I wasn't really interested in buying one at the time. *Then about a week later, I said i wanted one. *I phoned Steve's to see if they would hold it, and they put it on layaway, and then it was sold. *Now I'm gonna be out 2 grand.

Since were talking Canadian I really can't say but US prices I think are awesome. You can really get a great deal here if you look. Have any of you ever tried coming to the states and buying then taking back? Would there be any kind of taxes or any fees for bringing it into the country?

Yeah I think there would be big taxes going across the border. *I can't remember exactly how it works, but I'd have to pay a lot probably. *I want to call Rich up the next time I want to get a guitar, but I never really wanted to buy anything over the net. *Actually my parents don't want me to, but his place seems pretty secure cuz EVERYONE seems to go there. *Oh well, next time I guess.

24% crossing the boarder (any Canooks correct me if I'm wrong). What you pay in country can vary with the different GST's and PST's depending on the Province you live in or buy in.

Geeeeeez, that's a lot. *I know in Ontario we have 7% and 8% but I'm not sure which is PST or GST. *Either way, they kill us on taxes.

Can't you just smuggle it? *I've never crossed the border, how hard to they check you when you cross on ground (as opposed to the airports which I'm sure would be more difficult).

It's possible to smuggle it across the border on land, but risky, as would be smuggling anything. *We brought a cooler across the border to vermont a few years ago, and they checked it and threw out our fruits. *Those damn border patrollers. *Maybe if I try to get it through the airport, when they ask me what's in the case, I'll just say "don't worry, it's not a guitar, its a sniper rifle. *I'm planning on shooting the planes as they fly by the runway." *That way, they won't suspect anything!
