JS Custom

I was just wondering what kind of JS I actually saw when I visited a guitar shop in Helsinki last saturday.

At first I thought it was a BTB, but it had a plaque that said JS Custom. Otherwise the color was the same. Well, almost anyway...
It was pretty beaten up too, and not that expencive, about 1400 ($1281).

Any ideas? Rich?

It was more than likely an old JS1000 which had the JS Custom thing for a few years. The BTB has been available in Europe for a long time now back to 94 I think.

tb

That sounds like a JS1000 TB (translucent blue). A friend of mine has one. Yes, they were only made for one year. They are way better looking than the BTB IMHO. They're actually pretty hard to find. I'd grab it up if I were you.

Definately a TB, prettier, but has the plaque as a huge drawback IMO.

I can't find a "Translucent Blue" in any of my catalogues (I don't have a 96) from 94 to present the finish is listed as BTB (although the 94 cat's blurb says simply "Translucent Blue" is this what we're on about?)

Not sure of the Euro models, but the TB is the same color as the BTB, it just isn't Burnt first

Oooooh Cheers Rich I think it's interesting how the different markets get the slightly different models, and how the seemingly more aesthetically pleasing models are often the ones to get discontinued!

Here's the 94 catalog page for this particular guitar.

Yep that seems to be the same photo I have in my, admittedly photocopied, 94 cat. But the UK/Euro catalogue has the colour listed as BTB not TB!!!

Oh, woops, I didn't even see the B from BTB in your post. Stupid allergies. Been doing stupid things all day. Accidentally got a Pepsi Twist instead of a Pepsi at lunch. Blecht!

Thanks for the info guys. It was a TB for sure. I did get to play it for a while, and it was quite nice. Good feeling etc. The thing that eluded me was the "JS CUSTOM" plaque..

Does anybody here have one?

I don't have a BTB or a TB, but my Black Pearl JS1000 is an old one with a plaque, and in truth to me it makes very little difference. The annoying thing to me is the non-matched headstock.

Don't pay any attention to Rich, he's just jealous that he doesn't have one .

iain, is that yours? That has a much better looking finish than the BTB. My BTB is gorgeous, but I wish they finished them more like that pic. Haven't I seen that one up for sale before?
