Re: JS string gauge

I use D'Addario 9s because they're what I have been using my whole guitar playing life. Why did I go with 9s?

Re: JS string gauge

I use 9s to 46s as I sometimes tune to Eb

Yes, I am aware - was just telling the OP why I use 9s. When I was a kid my first really nice guitar was a 1991 RG570, I had been using Ernie Ball strings. I saw that ad in a guitar magazine and switched to D'Addario and have been using them ever since. I just prefer 9s.

I used 9s up until two years ago and switched to 10s .....still not sure if I'm gonna stay on 10s but now I got used to the nice sound of 10s

Re: JS string gauge

I use 9s on locking trem JS guitars and 10s on non locking ones (6,1600, 700) also I have my 2410 with 10s because it's in Eflat.

Re: JS string gauge

Eb 10's are slightly higher in tension than 9's in E. 9's get floppy. He could have gone with 9.5's but obviously wasn't looking for lighter tension, just the thicker tone.

As i know he went to Eb when he started playing with Chickenfoot because of Sammy Hagar's vocal range...
